Certified Medical Assistant – Dermatology

About the role

The Department of Dermatology at the University of Miami is hiring Certified Medical Assistants (MA1, MA2, MA3) to support patient examinations and treatments. The role involves direct patient interaction, clinical procedures, and administrative tasks in an onsite Miami, FL setting.

Key responsibilities

• Administer injections and treatments, and perform routine laboratory tests.
• Assist with patient care activities such as dressing changes, leg wraps, and vital sign measurements.
• Prepare treatment rooms, supply instruments, and hand materials to physicians during examinations.
• Draw and collect blood samples, prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Maintain accurate patient records, schedule tests, and complete required laboratory forms.
• Order, stock, and inventory supplies; perform clerical duties as needed.
• Clean and sterilize medical instruments following sterile technique.
• Escort and transport patients within the hospital and adhere to university policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Active national or statewide medical assistant certification.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid HIV/AIDS 2‑hour course completion certificate.
• MA1: No prior experience required.
• MA2: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• MA3: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
