Certified Medical Assistant 2

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurology is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant 2 to support physicians and nursing staff on the UHealth Medical Campus. The MA 2 will provide direct patient care, assist with clinical procedures, and ensure a safe, compassionate environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms with necessary supplies and instruments for provider examinations.
• Perform vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and routine laboratory tests, documenting results in the patient record.
• Assist providers during physical examinations and minor procedures, maintaining aseptic technique.
• Administer medications as directed, monitor patient status, and report any changes.
• Escort and transport patients throughout the hospital and assist with mobility needs.
• Clean, sterilize, and inventory medical instruments and supplies.
• Schedule patients for tests, complete laboratory forms, and provide post-visit instructions.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and perform clerical duties as required.

Required profile

• Certified Medical Assistant 2 with the ability to work under direct physician supervision.
• Commitment to ethical standards, patient privacy, and culturally competent care.
• Ability to recognize and respond to emergencies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Proficiency in measuring vital signs, performing EKGs and phlebotomy.
