Certified Float Medical Assistant 2 – Full-Time

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of UMMG is seeking a full‑time Certified Float Medical Assistant 2 to provide hands‑on patient care in a fast‑paced clinical environment. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed physician, you will support providers and ensure high‑quality, culturally competent care.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms with necessary supplies and instruments for provider examinations.
• Perform vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and routine laboratory tests, documenting results in the patient’s medical record.
• Assist providers during physical examinations and minor procedures, maintaining aseptic technique.
• Administer medications safely as directed by the physician.
• Escort and transport patients to various hospital locations and assist with mobility needs.
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical instruments following sterile technique guidelines.
• Schedule patients for tests, complete required laboratory forms, and provide post‑visit care instructions.
• Observe and report any changes in patient signs or symptoms promptly.

Required profile

• Current or former staff, faculty, or temporary employee of the University of Miami may apply through internal channels.
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic medical terminology and ethical patient privacy standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, supervisors, and physicians in a team‑oriented setting.
