Central Sterile Technician I – Variable Shifts

About the role

The Central Sterile Processing Technician I supports patient safety at the Hospital for Special Surgery by ensuring that all reusable surgical instruments and disposable supplies are clean, complete, sterile, and delivered on time. This full‑time, variable‑shift position works in the Central Service Professionals (CSP) department of the Long Island ASC.

Key responsibilities

• Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize, and safely transport reusable surgical instruments.
• Provide disposable medical supplies to peri‑operative areas via surgical case carts.
• Maintain 100% clean, complete, and sterile instrument trays for orthopedic surgeries.
• Follow regulatory standards and internal quality protocols to support low infection rates.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to meet the high demand of busy operating rooms.

Required profile

• Certified Sterile Processing Technician I.
• Ability to work variable 8‑hour shifts in a fast‑paced hospital environment.
