CDL Class A Roll‑Off Driver

About the role

Gerdau is seeking a reliable CDL Class A driver to operate roll‑off, dump, and van trailers, delivering steel products to customers and suppliers in the Lynchburg area. The role involves safe vehicle operation, load handling, and maintaining professional customer relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Safely operate diesel straight trucks and tractor‑trailers, including roll‑off, dump, and van trailers.
• Pick up and deliver steel products to suppliers and customers while complying with DOT regulations.
• Read and follow invoices, shipping tickets, and electronic instructions.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, trip reports, and inspection reports.
• Assist with loading/unloading, secure loads properly, and perform routine vehicle cleaning and basic upkeep.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL (Tanker and HazMat endorsements are a plus).
• Minimum 9 months experience operating large mobile equipment or hauling vehicles.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and follow written and verbal instructions.

Required skills

• Smartphone/GPS technology proficiency.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office; SAP experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of traffic regulations and load restrictions.
