Cast Technician – Temporary

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Orthopedics is seeking a temporary, full‑time Cast Technician to work on‑site at the UHealth Tower in Miami, FL. The role supports physicians, nurses, and orthopedic technicians in delivering post‑operative care and cast management for patients.

Key responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nursing staff with orthopedic casting procedures, including application and removal of casts and splints.
• Perform routine patient care tasks such as removing casts, cleaning wounds, and applying dressings.
• Provide continuity of post‑operative care by documenting all treatments in medical records.
• Administer medication and support minor procedures with appropriate supplies and equipment.
• Maintain inventory levels of supplies, medications, and instruments, and place orders as needed.
• Keep examination and cast rooms stocked, clean, and ready for each patient.
• Document coding for modalities and supplies used.
• Facilitate patient flow and coordinate care with physicians and nursing personnel.
• Follow university and unit policies, safeguarding assets and ensuring compliance.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent, with relevant experience, certification or license.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related orthopedic or cast‑technician role.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork orientation and clear written and verbal communication skills.
