Cashier – Business Office

About the role

The Business Office Cashier joins the Patient Access team at Palestine Regional Medical Center, a 150‑bed hospital in Palestine, TX. You will be the primary point of contact for processing patient payments and ensuring a smooth financial experience.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cash, checks, credit/debit cards, and electronic transfers accurately.
• Issue receipts, refunds, and credits, and reconcile daily transactions.
• Provide courteous service to patients, visitors, and staff while addressing billing inquiries.
• Post payments to patient accounts, prepare adjustment reports, and maintain accurate records.
• Assist patients with financial assistance screening and refer to counselors as needed.
• Collaborate with the Patient Access team to ensure timely posting of payments and adjustments.
• Maintain a secure work area and follow cash‑handling policies.
• Use hospital information systems to verify balances and update records.
• Participate in process‑improvement initiatives and train new staff on payment procedures.
