Cash Processing Equipment Technician

About the role

The Technician is responsible for hands‑on maintenance, troubleshooting and optimisation of cash processing equipment such as banknote and coin counters and sorters. The role ensures maximum uptime, operational efficiency and compliance with business continuity standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on SBV machinery and other automated electro‑mechanical equipment.
• Support the Mechanical Maintenance Manager by executing preventative maintenance plans and responding to equipment failures.
• Conduct fault diagnosis, incident resolution and daily equipment inspections for early fault detection.
• Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance in line with OEM standards and manufacturer intervals.
• Maintain an inventory of essential spare parts to minimise downtime.
• Prepare and submit daily and monthly performance reports, including uptime, downtime and maintenance activities.
• Conduct monthly inventory audits and ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
• Support ESG reporting requirements and act as a change champion during organisational transitions.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of on‑site technician experience with automated, electro‑mechanical or industrial equipment in a continuous operations environment.
• Experience in preventative and corrective maintenance following maintenance schedules and OEM standards.
• Prior exposure to cash processing, banking, manufacturing or other security‑controlled environments (advantageous).
• Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Millwright, Electrician, Fitter & Turner) with practical on‑site maintenance experience.
• National Diploma or NQF Level 5 in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics engineering (advantageous).
• Technical certifications or OEM training on automated equipment (advantageous).
• Basic computer literacy (MS Office) for maintenance reporting.
