Caseworker – Refugee Resettlement Support

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a dedicated Caseworker to provide trauma-informed support to newly-arrived refugees and qualified immigrants. In this role you will help clients secure essential services, develop self-sufficiency plans, and navigate health and social systems during the first nine months after arrival.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate pre- and post-arrival services, ensuring clients have housing, food, medical care, transportation and orientation to their new community.
• Conduct intake assessments, develop individualized self-sufficiency timelines, and provide direct services, referrals and advocacy.
• Monitor client progress, address challenges, and adjust plans to maximize use of available resources.
• Document all client interactions in accordance with program requirements and maintain accurate records in case-management databases.
• Collaborate with the Spokane Case Management team to evaluate long-term service needs after the initial resettlement period.
• Deliver extended health orientation on topics such as women’s health, disability services, and local healthcare navigation.
• Respond to health-related crises with supervisor guidance and support clients in developing independence.
• Assist in creating customized self-sufficiency plans and provide coaching to overcome barriers.
• Work effectively with partner organizations and internal teams to coordinate comprehensive support.

Required profile

• Experience or strong interest in working with refugees, immigrants or other vulnerable populations.
• Ability to conduct trauma-informed assessments and provide compassionate advocacy.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping.
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with clients, colleagues and external partners.
• Flexibility to respond to emergent client needs and health crises.
