Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Pediatrics seeks a per‑diem Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist to perform echocardiograms for pediatric and adult patients in Miami, FL. The technologist will acquire high‑quality cardiac images, provide preliminary evaluations, and communicate findings to cardiologists.

Key responsibilities

• Perform M‑Mode, 2‑dimensional, color flow, and Doppler echocardiograms following departmental protocols.
• Tailor each examination to the patient’s condition and adjust technical factors for optimal results.
• Explain procedures to patients in lay terms, set up and maintain sterile equipment, and ensure safety standards.
• Identify and document cardiac pathology, recognize equipment malfunctions, and arrange repairs when needed.
• Conduct EKG procedures, place or order Holter and event monitors, and upload scans to the ISCV system for physician review.
• Train and cross‑train clinical staff and attend division meetings to stay current with advances.

Required profile

• Experience performing cardiac ultrasound examinations in a clinical setting.
• Ability to communicate findings clearly to physicians and patients.
• Flexibility to work in various clinical environments and adhere to infection‑control standards.
