Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist I (PRN)

About the role

AdventHealth in Orlando is hiring a Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist I on a per diem, as needed basis. The technologist performs routine and complex echocardiogram and vascular ultrasound studies, assists with imaging procedures, communicates findings to physicians and handles scheduling, insurance verification, coding and billing.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex echocardiogram and vascular ultrasound studies, obtaining high-quality scans adapted to each patient's condition
• Enter test conditions, observations, results and demographics into patient records and report abnormal findings to reading physicians
• Set up and adjust imaging equipment and maneuver transducers to perform exams
• Handle scheduling, insurance verification, authorization, coding, billing and reimbursement
• Maintain a clean, safe department and keep supplies stocked

Required profile

• Full range of diagnostic echocardiogram and/or vascular ultrasound procedures
• Ability to interpret image data and decide which images to save
• Conversational English, basic math skills and ability to work independently
• Knowledge of common healthcare concepts and patient safety needs
• Associate's degree in cardiovascular sonography preferred; 1+ years of relevant experience preferred
• Preferred: proficiency in pediatric and transesophageal echocardiography

Required skills

• Operating ultrasound systems and using the measurement package
• Recognizing anatomical structures, artifacts and pathology
• Explaining procedures clearly to patients
• Basic EKG knowledge and basic computer skills with Microsoft Office
• RDCS, RVT, RCS or RVS certification, and BLS/CPR certification
