Café & Catering Operations Assistant (Federal Work‑Study Student)

About the role

The Café & Catering Operations Assistant provides essential administrative and operational support for the Culinary Arts café and catering program on the Columbus Technical College campus. This Federal Work‑Study position offers hands‑on experience in hospitality management, business operations, purchasing, and event coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Organize storage areas, maintain inventory records, conduct counts, and assist with receiving deliveries.
• Update standardized recipes, costing spreadsheets, production schedules, and other operational documents.
• Maintain digital and physical files, customer records, catering paperwork, and production information.
• Prepare packing lists, organize equipment and supplies, and track inventory for catering events.
• Support purchasing and cost control through vendor price updates, food‑cost calculations, and inventory monitoring.
• Assist marketing efforts by creating menus, signage, promotional materials, digital menu boards, and approved social‑media content.
• Collect and maintain operational data, including production records, customer feedback, and compliance documentation.

Required profile

• Enrolled as a student at Columbus Technical College.
• Completed FAFSA and eligible for federal aid.
• Completed a Federal Work‑Study Employment Application.
