Buyer – Produce Procurement

About the role

GreenLeaf is seeking an experienced Buyer to manage inventory replenishment for our produce categories. You will coordinate with suppliers, sales, logistics and operations to ensure timely, cost‑effective procurement while supporting our organic and regenerative farming mission.

Key responsibilities

• Place purchase orders with vendors, accounting for seasonal fluctuations and market trends to avoid spoilage, overstocks, and shortages.
• Manage the full Purchase‑to‑Pay cycle: PO creation, vendor confirmation, delivery date updates, and collaboration with Accounts Payable.
• Maintain purchasing system data, generate suggested POs, and keep required vendor documents (W‑9s, indemnities, etc.) up to date.
• Work closely with vendors to resolve FDA issues, ensure timely delivery, and negotiate volume discounts or price breaks.
• Collaborate with logistics to minimize freight costs, with sales managers to mitigate stock risks, and with customer service to support order growth.
• Support fellow buyers by sharing best practices and handling Fusion system issues that affect purchasing and receiving.
• Maintain the BFC dating system to reduce close‑dated and expired product impacts.

Required profile

• 5+ years of buying experience, preferably focused on produce.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred).
• Background in food‑service distribution or food importing is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of commodity contracts, blanket commitments and market tracking.
• Strong sense of urgency, ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced, metrics‑driven environment.
• Professional demeanor with vendors, customers and internal teams.
• Drive to advance within the organization and a collaborative, positive attitude.
