Buyer / Procurement Specialist – Plant (Donaldsonville, LA)

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Buyer/Procurement Specialist to support our plant operations in Donaldsonville, LA. The role focuses on issuing contracts, managing purchase orders, and ensuring material availability for turnarounds and capital projects.

Key responsibilities

• Issue contract releases and purchase orders, expediting materials and services as needed.
• Support activities during and after turnarounds and key capital projects.
• Report quarterly on procurement and material control KPIs to drive ongoing efficiencies.
• Implement procurement policies, practices, and process improvements.
• Optimize inventory levels, minimize stock outs, and manage disposal of obsolete equipment and materials.
• Manage sourcing activities, including proposal handling, recommendation development, contract negotiation, and supplier transition planning.
• Assist in supplier qualification and introduce potential new suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of procurement experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of procurement best practices such as negotiation, demand management, supplier qualification, sourcing, bidding, contracting, supplier performance, and risk management.
• Familiarity with SAP, Coupa, and other procurement systems.
