Buyer – Procurement Operations

About the role

The Buyer will manage end‑to‑end ordering processes for NYU Langone Health, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services to clinical and administrative departments across multiple campuses. The role provides customer‑service support to internal stakeholders and works closely with suppliers to resolve order issues.

Key responsibilities

• Place and monitor purchase orders from approved requisitions through to invoice matching.
• Maintain uninterrupted supply of critical materials and services, locating alternative sources when needed.
• Collaborate with internal customers and external suppliers to address order discrepancies and ensure accurate deliveries.
• Support automation initiatives by working with the Application Delivery and Automation Team to streamline procurement workflows.
• Partner with Strategic Sourcing and Data teams to identify buying opportunities, manage supplier changes, and maintain clear records of purchasing decisions.
• Report pricing inconsistencies to the Sourcing team and participate in service contract processes.
• Assist with projects aimed at improving Procurement Operations and overall supply‑chain efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent significant purchasing experience.
• Minimum two years of experience in purchasing or procurement.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work professionally and ethically.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with internal departments and external vendors.

Required skills

• Proficiency in order‑placement and invoice‑matching processes.
• Familiarity with procurement technologies and automation tools.
• Ability to analyze pricing contracts and identify discrepancies.
