Buyer – Procurement (Commodities & Services Division)

About the role

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a self‑motivated Buyer to join its Commodities and Services Division. The role supports the procurement of goods and services for Port Authority and PATH warehouse operations, ensuring fairness, transparency, and competitiveness throughout the sourcing process.

Key responsibilities

• Procure goods and services for Port Authority and PATH facilities, from requisition through contract award.
• Analyze shopping carts, scopes of work, product specifications, and pricing sheets to ensure clarity and completeness.
• Select the most effective procurement method (bid, call‑in, RFP, etc.) and manage the strategic sourcing process.
• Develop solicitation packages, evaluate offers, and negotiate agreements.
• Conduct virtual and occasional on‑site vendor meetings, including pre‑bid, pre‑award, and post‑award sessions.
• Award contracts and issue purchase orders.
• Support emergency material sourcing for the Office of Emergency Management.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated, flexible, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Demonstrates integrity, professional and ethical behavior, and transparent decision‑making.
• Experience with public‑sector procurement processes and various sourcing techniques.
• Ability to lead teams and manage a diverse portfolio of contracts.
