Buyer-Commodity Professional

About the role

Saab, Inc. is seeking a Buyer‑Commodity Professional to support the growth and management of its internal supply chain. The role will focus on improving operational efficiency and maintaining a robust supplier base across its Orlando, Florida and East Syracuse, New York sites.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Identify, qualify, and negotiate with potential suppliers on price, delivery, and terms.
• Request, obtain, and evaluate quotes; manage RMA requests.
• Maintain supplier relationships and resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Analyze cost and price factors for pre‑award and post‑award purchasing activities.
• Apply FAR and DFAR flow‑down requirements and drive supply‑chain process improvements.
• Coordinate cross‑functional collaboration with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Material Handling, and Finance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a business‑related discipline (Supply Chain Management preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of related procurement or supply‑chain experience.
• Willingness to work onsite in Orlando, FL or East Syracuse, NY.
• Understanding of government contracting regulations (FAR/DFAR).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Experience using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
