About the role

Röhlig USA is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to drive revenue growth in freight forwarding. You will work with a global logistics network to develop new customers and expand existing accounts across the United States.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop new and prospective customers while maintaining existing accounts.
  • Assist the Vice President of Sales & Regional VP in preparing and negotiating bids, RFQs, and quotations with customers, suppliers, and overseas agents.
  • Support sales campaigns and events in collaboration with local and overseas partners.
  • Coordinate and attend sales visits in the USA and with overseas partners to aid business development.
  • Plan and manage personal business portfolio/territory according to agreed market strategy.
  • Conduct joint sales visits with other sales professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations prescribed by USA Customs, IATA, TSA, FMC, and other governing bodies.
  • Quote freight costs to new customers and respond to sales inquiries and leads using appropriate methods.
  • Manage client relationships, including weekly follow‑up with new clients after first shipments.
  • Deploy contract information to all parties and ensure professional client entertainment activities.
  • Meet customer service level agreements and resolve discrepancies, recording them via the Innovations and Incidents Management (IIM) system.
  • Monitor competitor activity and industry trends.
  • Update and maintain all relevant information about customers and sales activities in the CRM, providing weekly reporting of sales activities.
  • Attend meetings with sales team members and participate in training to develop relevant knowledge, techniques, and skills.

Required profile

  • High school graduate; some college preferred.
  • Proven track record in freight forwarding sales and revenue growth.
  • Familiarity with freight forwarding procedures and relevant regulations.
  • Strong client and supplier management abilities.
