BlackLine Sr Analyst

About the role

Merck's Finance team in San Jose is looking for a BlackLine Sr Analyst, a highly visible role combining financial systems, internal controls and accounting excellence. You will own the BlackLine platform, drive system improvements, support strategic projects, ensure SOX compliance and partner with teams across the Americas.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multiple BlackLine implementation and enhancement projects with minimal supervision and act as the main point of contact for BlackLine projects and improvements.
• Administer the BlackLine platform, including configuration, user maintenance and system governance.
• Ensure SOX IT control compliance through user access management, security reviews, documentation and audit evidence.
• Troubleshoot system issues, user access requests and integrations, and prepare documentation and reports for internal and external audits.
• Execute Account-to-Report (AtR) processes across the Americas, review and certify balance sheet reconciliations, and follow up on outstanding items.
• Maintain AtR trackers and reports, perform monthly GL to sub-ledger reconciliations (AP, AR, fixed assets), and support month-end closing and pre-close reporting.
• Drive process standardization, automation and continuous improvement in the AtR function, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of finance or accounting experience in a multinational organization; pharmaceutical experience is a plus.
• Experience as a BlackLine Administrator is required.
• Shared services, process transition, migration or transformation project experience is highly desirable.
• Business-level written and spoken English and Spanish required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of controllership, financial accounting and SOX-based internal controls.
• Hands-on ERP experience, preferably SAP.
• Advanced BlackLine administration and advanced Excel, with working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
• Project management, stakeholder management and status reporting.
