Biometrics Technician - On Call

About the role

Amentum is recruiting Biometrics Technicians for its USCIS Application Support Center in Michigan City, Indiana. The position is casual on-call: employees are available five days a week, Monday to Friday, 7:45am to 4:15pm, for substitute coverage as needed. Hours are not guaranteed and income is not steady, so it suits people seeking flexible, supplemental income. The company provides all required job training and sponsors a federal security clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Complete biometric registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States.
• Capture electronic fingerprints, photographs and signatures within established processing times.
• Screen applicants for a valid appointment notice and identification, and visually inspect them and their belongings before entry.
• Use crowd-control barriers to keep entry safe and organized, and help enforce ASC rules and policies.
• Provide front-line customer service to applicants and visitors, protecting personal identifiable information.
• Perform periodic facility checks and report concerns to the Site Supervisor.
• Help call local law enforcement or first responders when necessary.
• Handle administrative paperwork such as tracking processing times, biometric reconciliation and visitor logs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials; US citizenship is required for this location.
• English speaking and writing ability.
• Ability to stand for the shift, handle applicants' hands for fingerprints, and work in a fast-paced public environment.
• Ability to type and use basic computers.
• Completion of biometrics training and certification within 60 days.

What we offer

• Pay of $17.20 per hour, with an additional up to $4.10 per hour in unused health and welfare monies.
