Biometrics (Fingerprint) Technician - On Call

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Biometrics (Fingerprint) Technician to support the USCIS Application Support Center in Hauppauge, NY. The position is casual on-call: employees are available five days a week, Monday to Friday, 7:45am to 4:15pm, for substitute coverage as needed. Hours are not guaranteed and income is not steady, so it suits people seeking flexible, supplemental work. Amentum provides all required job training.

Key responsibilities

• Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States.
• Capture electronic fingerprints, photographs and signatures within established processing times.
• Screen applicants for a valid appointment notice and identification, and use crowd-control barriers to keep entry safe and orderly.
• Provide front-line customer service and protect personal identifiable information, including applicant paperwork and biometric data.
• Perform periodic facility checks and report concerns to the Site Supervisor; assist in contacting law enforcement or first responders when needed.
• Handle administrative paperwork such as tracking processing times, reconciling captured biometrics and maintaining a visitor control log.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials; US citizenship is required for this location.
• English speaking and writing ability.
• Ability to stand for the shift duration and to hold applicants' hands to take fingerprints.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced public-facing environment.
• Successful completion of biometrics training and certification within 60 days.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills, including typing.
• Desired: ability to speak a foreign language.
