Biometric (Fingerprinting) Technician - On Call

About the role

Amentum provides biometric services for the USCIS Application Support Center in Reno, Nevada. As a Biometric Technician (BT) on an on-call (casual) basis, you join a team supporting USCIS ASC operations. You are expected to be available five days a week, Monday to Friday, 7:45am to 4:15pm, for substitute coverage as needed; hours are not guaranteed and income is not steady.

Key responsibilities

• Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States, including electronic fingerprints, photographs and signatures within program processing times.
• Screen applicants for a valid appointment notice and identification, and visually inspect them and their belongings before entry.
• Provide crowd control using stanchions or rails, and help enforce ASC rules and policies.
• Provide front-line customer service, treating applicants with courtesy and respect, and safeguard personal identifiable information.
• Perform periodic facility checks and report concerns to the Site Supervisor; assist in contacting law enforcement or first responders when necessary.
• Handle administrative paperwork such as tracking processing times, biometrics reconciliation and visitor logs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• US citizenship required to obtain and maintain facility credentials.
• Ability to speak and write English; a foreign language is desired.
• Ability to stand for the shift duration, handle applicants' hands to take fingerprints, and work in a fast-paced public environment.
• Basic computer skills and ability to type.
• Completion of biometrics training and certification within 60 days.
