Billing Supervisor

About the role

Dermatology Associates of West Michigan is seeking a Billing Supervisor to lead the billing and follow‑up team for its busy dermatology practice. The role reports to the Operations Director and will ensure accurate revenue cycle management while fostering a supportive work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct oversight and supervision of the Billing Office team.
• Monitor accounts receivable, set target A/R levels and implement processes to achieve them.
• Ensure insurance contracts are applied correctly and payments align with fee schedules.
• Post payments, contractual adjustments and verify automated entries for accuracy.
• Process claim denials, manage reconsiderations and determine patient responsibility.
• Train and develop staff on billing procedures and coding guidelines.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of team lead or supervisory experience.
• At least four years of medical billing experience with full revenue‑cycle knowledge.
• Two years of college education; certifications (CPB, CPCD) are a plus.
• Experience in dermatology or Mohs surgery and familiarity with Modernizing Medicine EMA preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analytics.
• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD‑10 and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Experience using the Modernizing Medicine EMA electronic medical record system.
