Benefits Assistant – Operations Support

About the role

The Benefits Assistant supports the Operations Coordination and Liaison Unit of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund‑Pension Administration. Working from the Manhattan office, the role ensures smooth and rapid processing of pension benefits for a large, complex programme serving over 90,000 beneficiaries worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Provide assistance in planning and implementing operations support activities for the Operations Coordination and Liaison Unit to ensure efficient processing of pension benefits.
• Act as the focal point for coordination, monitoring and expediting OCLU project implementation, liaising with internal units and member organisations, preparing standard terms of reference, obtaining clearances and following up on administrative actions.
• Collaborate with operations managers to develop standard operating procedures for the separation process and guide member organisations on submission of separation documents.
• Analyse project‑related data, resolve implementation issues and support the preparation of reports.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent experience in administration, public policy or a related field.
• Experience in an international or multilateral environment is an advantage.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
