Basketball Instructor for Young Kids

About the role

Amazing Athletes, a multi-sport enrichment program founded in 2003 with over 50,000 kids enrolled each year, is looking for coaches for its basketball program run through Boys and Girls clubs and Kipp Schools. Coaches teach and promote life skills through basketball and other sports, with training on the job, a flexible schedule and incentive programs.

Key responsibilities

• Teach basketball classes to young children in South Los Angeles and Central Los Angeles, travelling between locations as needed.
• Work practice sessions from about 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Thursday, with some sessions possibly on Saturday mornings depending on the school.
• Games take place on Saturdays and a tournament is scheduled for April 26th for certain schools.

Required profile

• At least 18 years old.
• Prior experience working with children, especially in coaching or teaching, is highly desirable.
• Genuine enthusiasm for sports and basketball, and a commitment to inspiring young children.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, mainly in the afternoon (3-5 pm) and occasionally Saturday mornings.
• Reliable transportation to travel to different locations.
• Clean background check and CPR and First Aid certification are mandatory.

What we offer

• Starting pay of $40 per hour, with the opportunity to increase to $45.
• Earn up to $1,600 between February 24th and April 25th.
