Bartender - Aquarium of the Pacific

About the role

ASM Global, which manages privately run public assembly venues, has an immediate opening for a Bartender at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. The role reports to the F&B Manager and provides high-quality customer service at all events while ensuring accurate accounting of all transactions, including inventory. It is a non-exempt position paid $18 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and service individual beverage stations and prepare all beverage items for sale.
• Sell to customers using the ASM Global price list, charge the indicated amounts and handle cash and tickets.
• Verify and account for all liquor inventory and verify cash and liquor inventory with the supervisor.
• Check that the cash register is programmed correctly according to approved sales prices.
• Enforce liquor laws, request identification for every guest buying alcohol and maintain proper sanitation and safety in the work area.
• Follow bar procedures, food and beverage rules and regulations, and report to F&B personnel in the assigned uniform.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Food Service Manager and Bar Captain, including working flexible hours such as nights, weekends and holidays.

Required profile

• At least 21 years old and able to take directions and perform the work effectively.
• High school diploma, bartending certification, two years of bartending experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) certified and holding a California Food Handler Card or ServSafe.
• Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a shift and to lift according to industry standards.
• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Required skills

• Sufficient math ability to count and handle money accurately.
• Basic working knowledge of cash registers and cash handling procedures.
• Good spoken and understood English for talking with customers, supervisors and employees.
