Backstage Developer – Remote (USA)

About the role

We are looking for a Backstage Developer to design, build, and maintain internal developer portal solutions using Backstage, the open‑source Internal Developer Platform. The role is fully remote within the United States and focuses on creating a scalable, user‑friendly ecosystem that improves developer productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and customize Backstage‑based internal developer portals.
• Build and maintain custom Backstage plugins, components, and integrations.
• Integrate Backstage with enterprise tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Jira, ServiceNow, Kubernetes, and major cloud platforms.
• Create software templates and scaffolding to automate application onboarding and deployment.
• Implement service catalog management and component discovery.
• Develop APIs and backend services supporting Backstage integrations.
• Configure authentication and authorization using SSO, OAuth, LDAP, or SAML.
• Ensure security, scalability, and performance of the platform.
• Automate infrastructure and deployment workflows via CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot platform issues and produce technical documentation and best‑practice guides.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience building developer portals or internal platforms, preferably with Backstage.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
