Backend Software Engineer (New York)

About the role

Edra is building AI agents that learn and execute company‑specific processes. As a Backend Software Engineer you will create the platform, workflows, and integrations that make those agents useful in real‑world environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement platform services in Python using FastAPI, from API contracts to database schema and infrastructure.
• Build and maintain connectors, integrations, and data pipelines that link the platform to external systems.
• Create internal libraries, tooling, and interfaces to improve engineering productivity.
• Own features end‑to‑end: gather context, manage dependencies, and ship production‑ready code without a ticket‑driven product manager.
• Participate in product meetings, understand customer usage, and help shape future roadmap.
• Collaborate daily with a small, high‑caliber team of engineers and AI specialists.
• Influence technical direction by choosing tools, setting patterns, and establishing long‑term conventions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Passion for writing clean, well‑typed Python and/or TypeScript code.
• Experience building libraries, SDKs, or internal tooling that simplify other developers’ work.
• Enjoy designing robust database schemas and data models.
• Comfortable owning problems from conception through deployment, even in ambiguous situations.
