Backend Software Engineer (Go)

About the role

Mirantis, a Kubernetes-native AI infrastructure company, is hiring a backend engineer to build the Go services behind the k0rdent-ai platform, a multi-tenant control plane for enterprise GPU infrastructure. You will work with engineering teams across the US, Europe and India to design and develop API-first services, owning each feature end to end. The position is remote and requires authorization to work in the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Build Go microservices, model database schemas and write migrations for the k0rdent AI platform.
• Design public REST APIs with OpenAPI and multi-language SDKs.
• Implement durable orchestration in Temporal (idempotency, retries, timeouts, determinism).
• Build event-driven, asynchronous communication between services on a distributed streaming or message-broker platform.
• Implement authentication and authorization across an enterprise IAM platform and API gateway (OIDC/JWT, service-to-service auth, tenant-scoped RBAC, rate limiting).
• Contribute to identity provisioning (SCIM) and unify authorization between API permissions and Kubernetes RBAC.
• Write unit, integration and end-to-end tests, instrument services with logging, metrics and audit trails, and package services with Docker, Helm and Kubernetes.
• Review peers' code and debug incidents with regression coverage.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated ability.
• 4-5 years of professional software engineering, including 2-3+ years building production backend services in Go (4+ years of Go preferred).
• Clear written English for design documents, reviews and collaboration across global time zones.
• Ability to research and experiment before asking for help, and willingness to be reviewed rigorously.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Required skills

• Strong Go fundamentals: concurrency, context propagation, error wrapping, stdlib HTTP routing (Go 1.22+).
• REST API experience, including versioning and backward compatibility.
• Relational database skills: schema design, migrations, transactions and query tuning.
• Unit and integration testing discipline, with CI/CD (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
• Nice to have: Temporal, Kubernetes, Cluster API, Helm, Keycloak, Envoy, PostgreSQL, Kafka or NATS JetStream, SCIM, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Python or TypeScript, security engineering, CNCF contributions.
