Backend Developer – Cloud Services

About the role

Nabu Casa is seeking a full‑time Backend Developer to join its Cloud & Infrastructure team. You will work on Home Assistant Cloud services, ensuring high performance, reliability, and privacy for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, high‑performance backend applications for Home Assistant Cloud.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Maintain and improve the performance, quality, and responsiveness of cloud services.
• Implement security and data‑protection best practices.
• Stay current with industry trends and share knowledge within the team.

Required profile

• At least five years of professional backend development experience.
• Minimum two years of experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Basic system‑administration knowledge.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Proficient with Git and GitHub.
• Based in Canada and able to work across UTC‑5 to UTC‑8 time zones.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
