Azure Security Engineer

About the role

IBM Consulting is seeking an Azure Security Engineer to join a large infrastructure, security and application team supporting the migration of on‑premises and cloud applications to an Azure Government enclave. The role focuses on configuring, operating and maintaining Azure native security tools while ensuring compliance with security assessment and Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, deploy and optimize Azure security services such as Azure Sentinel, Azure Defender, Azure Purview and Azure Log Analytics.
• Develop and maintain real‑time alerting rules using KQL and manage SIEM/UEBA capabilities.
• Perform security monitoring, log aggregation, correlation and incident response across the Azure environment.
• Conduct weekly audit reviews, support security assessments, and assist with ATO documentation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement security controls, manage data access and ensure compliance with government standards.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience with Azure security cloud‑native tools.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust background investigation.
• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field.
• Relevant Microsoft Azure security certifications (e.g., SC‑200, SC‑500, SC‑100) and industry certifications such as CISSP, CISA or CISM.
