Avionics Manufacturing Engineer (Harnessing)

About the role

Impulse Space is looking for an Avionics Manufacturing Engineer (Harnessing) to own the build and testing of harnessing in production across its vehicles. The engineer's work directly affects the reliability and performance of the systems sent into orbit and beyond. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, qualify and optimize manufacturing processes for harnessing
• Collaborate with harnessing design engineers on manufacturability, drawing review and DFM/DFA
• Own the work instructions for harness manufacturing
• Work with cross-functional teams on quality and long-term reliability
• Support harnessing technicians on the production floor and troubleshoot production issues, driving corrective actions for non-conformances
• Support environmental and functional testing in production
• Optimize production rate, yield and cost of wire harness production and ensure timely delivery to the Integration team
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in harness manufacturing

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field
• 3+ years of demonstrated manufacturing experience with harnessing
• Preferred: MS in a related engineering field, 6+ years of harness manufacturing for space applications, and hardware development experience for space applications
• U.S. person or eligible to obtain an export license, due to ITAR and EAR restrictions

Required skills

• Preferred: mechanical design with Siemens NX
• Preferred: background in design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and continuous improvement methods for harnessing

• Pay range of $100,000 - $205,000 per year
