Avionics Manufacturing Engineer (Electromechanical Assemblies)

About the role

Impulse Space is hiring an Avionics Manufacturing Engineer in Redondo Beach to work with cross-discipline teams building electromechanical assemblies. The engineer owns the build and acceptance testing of these assemblies in production, directly affecting the reliability of systems sent into orbit. Pay ranges from $115,000 to $205,000 per year.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, document and optimize manufacturing processes for electromechanical assemblies including circuit boards, antennas, battery packs, reaction wheels and enclosures
• Work with avionics design engineers to ensure manufacturability and DFM/DFA of the assemblies
• Support quality and long-term reliability with cross-functional teams
• Support the production floor daily: resolve build issues, update work instructions and improve yield
• Guide electromechanical assembly technicians
• Own environmental and functional acceptance testing (vibration, TVAC) in production
• Set up, operate and troubleshoot hardware acceptance testing (ATP)

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field
• 4+ years of demonstrated experience in high-precision electromechanical manufacturing
• 4+ years of acceptance testing of circuit boards and electromechanical assemblies, including vibration testing, TVAC testing and software testing
• Hands-on hardware ATP experience in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials and assembly documentation
• Preferred: MS/PhD, 6+ years of electromechanical manufacturing for space applications, and knowledge of thermal cycling, vibration and TVAC for space applications
