Avionics Engineering Intern (Summer 2027)

About the role

Rendezvous Robotics is a small team in Golden, Colorado, developing electromagnetic self-assembling tiles that let spacecraft dock and latch together after launch. The internship is full-time, lasting 12-15 weeks during Summer 2027, and covers avionics hardware work within a broader program spanning hardware, software and systems engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design and review of power electronics, including battery management and protection circuits
• Work on PCB design for onboard electronics
• Help analyze cross-domain fault behavior and edge cases in the power system
• Support power distribution and bus architecture work across internal interfaces
• Assist with bring-up and debug of avionics hardware on the bench

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field
• Coursework or project experience in power electronics or analog/digital circuit design
• Familiarity with PCB design tools (KiCad, Altium or similar)
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility for the required authorizations, due to ITAR requirements

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with gate drivers, DC-DC converters or battery management systems
• Understanding of isolated sensing or isolated power architectures
• Exposure to embedded firmware for hardware bring-up
• Experience debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and other bench equipment
