Avionic Engineering Architect III

About the role

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a senior Avionic Engineering Architect (Level III) to lead the definition, design and integration of core avionics architecture across its helicopter fleet (H125, H130, H135, H145, H160). The role owns critical architecture decisions from concept through flight test and FAA certification, ensuring compliance with airworthiness standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define and approve system and integration architectures, conduct simulations, modeling and verification activities, and coordinate with test centres to validate designs.
• Develop technical documentation, installation instructions and configuration control for avionics and electrical equipment, and support certification packages with the FAA.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with at least 10 years of aircraft systems design, integration and certification experience.
• U.S. Person status under ITAR; ability to obtain security clearance if required; willingness to travel 5‑10 % domestically and internationally.

Required skills

• Avionics architecture and system integration.
• System engineering standards (ARP 4761, ARP 4754) and airworthiness regulations (DO‑297, DO‑178, DO‑160).
• Model‑Based Systems Engineering using Cameo Systems and CAD tools such as AutoCAD.
• Simulation, flight‑safety analysis and Human‑Machine Interface design.
