Autonomy Engineer

About the role

The Autonomy Engineer will join a cutting‑edge aerospace and robotics team in Denver, developing advanced autonomous navigation and control software for next‑generation robotic and orbital platforms. The role focuses on creating robust, decentralized algorithms that enable coordinated operations in challenging, remote environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement decentralized navigation, decision‑making and swarm coordination algorithms for autonomous robotic and orbital systems.
• Develop autonomy software that operates reliably in unstructured and extreme environments.
• Integrate autonomy modules with hardware platforms in collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Use simulation tools to evaluate performance, conduct testing, validation and refine algorithms.
• Ensure software complies with safety, reliability and mission‑critical standards, and produce technical documentation.
• Participate in technical reviews, trade studies and risk assessments throughout the development lifecycle.
• Research and incorporate emerging technologies in autonomy, robotics and intelligent systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering or a related field.
• Commercial experience developing autonomy software for autonomous systems.
• Demonstrated innovation through projects, publications, patents or technical achievements.
• Eligibility to work in a security‑conscious environment.

Required skills

• Strong programming in C++ and/or Python.
• Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System).
• Familiarity with containerisation tools such as Docker or VirtualBox.
• Knowledge of simulation environments and sensor integration.
