Automotive Worker (OGM 1st Shift)

About the role

Amentum is hiring an Automotive Worker for the OGM 1st shift. The worker performs a variety of minor repairs and services to keep motor vehicles running, requiring an understanding of simple vehicle maintenance. The position involves hands-on work in the field, including working outdoors in all weather and possible shift work.

Key responsibilities

• Place and maintain decals, check and replace batteries, rotate, repair and replace tires, and wash, polish and clean vehicles.
• Drain, flush and replace engine, transmission and differential greases and oils; check, clean, calibrate and replace spark plugs; clean and replace oil and air filters.
• Adjust brakes, replace windshield wipers and similar minor parts; assist major overhauls by disassembling and cleaning parts and repairing components such as generators and water pumps.
• Maintain tools and equipment and keep work areas clean.
• Follow the vehicle's Technical Manual and complete paperwork for maintenance and repairs.
• Work in a team, follow safety, quality and procedure requirements, and be available for nights, weekends and holidays.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One or more years of experience and specific knowledge of vehicle maintenance, through schooling or on-the-job experience.
• Valid, current state driver's license and ability to obtain site forklift and other licenses or certifications.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, work at heights, climb in and out of vehicles, work under pressure and outdoors in extreme conditions, and work long hours standing, stooping or sitting.
• Team player; ability to meet short deadlines.

Required skills

• Proper use of a variety of automotive tools and hydraulic equipment.
• Understanding and use of Technical Manuals.
• Preferred: military tactical vehicle maintenance, ASE or diesel mechanic certification, and field repair and recovery experience.
