Automotive Technician

About the role

Monro, a family of automotive service and tire dealer brands, is hiring an Automotive Technician in Sterling. The role is full-time or part-time and is an hourly position depending on business needs. The technician performs basic vehicle diagnostics and routine repair and maintenance, delivers 5-star guest service, and helps drive sales and guest count. The pay is $16-$22 per hour guaranteed minimum, with a flat rate of $26-$40 depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic vehicle diagnostics to identify the repairs needed.
• Complete the Courtesy Inspection on every guest vehicle, document and communicate additional services, and audit courtesy inspections done by other technicians.
• Assist with inventory management, including pulling tires and parts, unloading and stocking.
• Help keep the store clean and guest-ready, and follow safety standards such as wheel torque and oil safety procedures.
• Test drive vehicles according to the Road Test policy.
• Operate and maintain equipment safely, including lifts, welders and brake lathes.
• Complete Monro University training and other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Automotive training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report; must own a basic set of tools or join the tool purchase program.
• Ability to work flexible hours, days, evenings, weekends and holidays, and to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Preferred: ASE certification and a state inspection license where applicable.
