Automotive Service Technician

About the role

The Service Technician position at Mills Auto Group in Columbia, South Carolina offers a full‑time, skilled‑labor role focused on diagnosing and repairing vehicles for the dealership while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Examine cars based on customer requests or concerns.
• Perform basic maintenance such as rotating tires, checking fluid levels, and changing oil.
• Repair or replace worn parts including spark plugs, wheel bearings, brake pads, fuel systems, and sensors.
• Test systems and individual components to verify proper operation.
• Identify mechanical and electrical problems using computerized diagnostic equipment and visual inspection.
• Determine appropriate repair measures based on research, peer consultation, and experience.
• Execute repairs accurately, following original repair strategy and customer specifications.
• Maintain customer satisfaction throughout the service process.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Basic computer skills.
• Certification from a vocational school (a plus).
• Strong verbal communication to explain repairs to customers and colleagues.
• Detail‑oriented, organized and able to lift 50 lb unassisted.
• Critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities.
• Mechanically and analytically minded.
