Automotive Painter

About the role

Amentum is hiring an Automotive Painter for contract work at the Red River Army Depot. The painter paints or removes paint from contract units according to customer specifications, applies corrosion control methods and reports to a Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Coat contract unit surfaces with primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other materials using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices.
• Remove old paint with liquid paint remover and scraper, or with plastic/sand media blasting.
• Smooth surfaces with sandpaper and steel wool; roughen aluminum with acid solution and steel wool so paint adheres and meets corrosion control specifications.
• Mask areas not to be painted and paint insignia, letters or numerals using stencils.
• Perform other duties assigned or requested, including safety, quality and procedure compliance.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years of recent experience in maintenance, water blasting, sand blasting, bead blasting, overhaul and painting/depainting of contract unit equipment.
• Normal color vision; PFT and respirator fit test may be required.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials (US citizenship required).
• Ability to read, speak and write English; Common Access Card (CAC) if required.
• Available to work any shift, including weekends, and willing to register with the Selective Service for depot access.

Required skills

• Sand blasting, water blasting and bead blasting.
• Paint application and paint removal.
• Ability to work in loud, hot and humid conditions with exposure to fumes and moving mechanical parts.
