Automation Technician

About the role

Agropur is hiring an Automation Technician in Le Sueur, Minnesota. The technician oversees the everyday automation activities of the manufacturing plant, maintains and troubleshoots automation systems, electrical circuits and equipment, and supports production personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor automated systems and HMI systems, and make adjustments or modifications as needed
• Troubleshoot automation systems using PLC programs and resolve and repair system faults and anomalies
• Perform checks and calibration of plant floor equipment, and calibrate instruments throughout the plant
• Perform scheduled and daily preventive maintenance, including electrical circuits, and complete documentation for maintenance work
• Install and test systems, install new electrical circuits, and bend and install electrical conduit according to local and national codes
• Make program changes to PLCs and help production personnel troubleshoot production problems
• Perform Maximo (computerized maintenance management) functions and basic mechanical duties as needed
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, stop unsafe acts, and report potential food safety issues to management

Required profile

• Associate's or technical degree in Electrical Technology or a related field; equivalent education and/or experience may be considered
• Minimum three years of related experience
• Experience reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, including redlining schematics for updates
• Experience wiring electrical control panels, remote actuators, inputs and outputs, and plumbing, pneumatic or hydraulic equipment
• Experience planning, selecting, testing, installing and maintaining equipment and systems

Required skills

• 4-20mA control loops and motor control centers (120VAC to 480VAC)
• Installing and programming variable frequency drives
• Troubleshooting using electrical prints, PLC logic and measuring equipment
• Understanding of P&ID diagrams
• Intermediate math and computer skills with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook

• Starting rate of $32.69 per hour, with a $1.50 per hour night-shift differential
