Auditor – Inspection Division (DEA)

About the role

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is seeking an Auditor to join its Inspection Division, Office of Inspection, Audit Unit. The role involves conducting performance, financial, and attestation audits across DEA programs and operations, providing independent assessments to enhance accountability and effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Perform objective analysis and systematic evaluations of DEA organizations, programs, and functions.
• Conduct full or partial audits, special reviews, and on‑site inspections of internal programs.
• Assist in developing audit proposals, surveys, and special review plans.
• Plan, execute, and report on financial audits and integrated financial operations.
• Develop audit approaches, formulate work plans, and prepare working papers in accordance with Government Auditing Standards, DOJ, and DEA policies.
• Complete complex analyses related to accounting, management control, and risk management.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• Registration with Selective Service (or exemption) for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Successful completion of E‑Verify, background investigation, and random drug testing.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and willingness to operate a vehicle per OPM and DOJ/DEA regulations.
• Willingness to serve a probationary period (1‑2 years) as required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Government Auditing Standards.
• Familiarity with DOJ and DEA audit policies and procedures.
