About the role
The Auditor III performs highly complex, senior‑level auditing work for the Alcoholic Beverage Division. Working primarily in the field, the role involves conducting tax, fee and regulatory audits, investigations, inspections, and providing guidance on marketing practices.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct assigned excise, food & beverage, private club, distributor and shipper audits, ensuring compliance with statutes, rules and audit manuals.
- Develop administrative cases for cash and credit law, assist senior staff with complex case development, and prepare legally acceptable statements or affidavits.
- Perform complaint‑based investigations and physical inspections of licensed locations to enforce the Alcoholic Beverage Code.
- Respond to routine marketing practice inquiries, interpret code provisions, and resolve issues related to festivals, sponsorships and third‑party promotions.
- Prepare statistical reports and maintain accurate documentation of travel, time and audit activities.
Required profile
- Must complete the New Auditors Training Program within the first year of employment.
- Willingness to attend division or agency training, including the New Auditor’s Academy.
- Ability to work under limited supervision of the Regional Audit Manager while exercising independent judgment.
- Strong knowledge of tax, fee, and regulatory compliance related to the alcoholic beverage industry.
