Audit & Assurance Supervisor

About the role

Henry & Peters, a middle-market CPA firm with over 120 employees and offices in Tyler, Longview and Frisco, is seeking Audit Supervisors to support its Tyler and Longview offices. The role suits experienced professionals who enjoy leading audit engagements, serving clients, mentoring staff and growing within a collaborative public accounting environment. It is not an IT audit position.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, train and mentor staff and senior associates through coaching, review and performance feedback
• Manage multiple audit engagements and deadlines, and assist with engagement planning, budgeting and risk assessment
• Lead audit, review and assurance engagements from planning through completion, overseeing fieldwork and ensuring quality and timely delivery
• Serve as the primary client contact and strengthen client relationships
• Review financial statements, disclosures and audit documentation, and evaluate internal controls, risks and compliance matters
• Resolve complex accounting and auditing issues with partners and managers, and recommend improvements
• Develop, mentor and evaluate team members and identify opportunities for additional client services

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
• 4-6 years of public accounting experience focused on audit and assurance services
• CPA license preferred; CPA candidates actively pursuing certification will also be considered
• Demonstrated leadership, project management and client service skills
• Experience reviewing staff work and managing engagement teams

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of auditing standards, accounting principles and financial reporting requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Audit software and Microsoft Office applications
