Attractions Lead

About the role

The Attractions Lead supports the Supervisor and Manager of Attractions at the Indianapolis Zoo, guiding ride operators, animal‑feed staff, and exhibit door attendants. You will lead by example, ensure safe and smooth operation of all attractions, and help create memorable guest experiences every day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide friendly, professional service to zoo guests and staff.
• Assist with department administration, including staff training, scheduling, record keeping, evaluations, and discipline.
• Ensure compliance with Indianapolis Zoo policies and procedures across all Guest Experience areas.
• Maintain mechanical rides, audio equipment, and ticket booths in good working order according to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Support accurate record keeping: daily checklists, inspections, mechanical concerns, and repair follow‑up.
• Train seasonal staff and volunteers working with the Attractions team.
• Identify problems promptly and contribute to effective resolutions.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of professional experience, with at least one year in a zoo or amusement‑park setting (preferred).
• Additional experience in retail, customer service, or problem‑solving.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and varying shifts.
