About the role
The House Attorney Analyst supports the legislative process of the Georgia House of Representatives by providing legal research, analysis, and drafting assistance throughout the calendar year, with heightened activity during the legislative session.
Key responsibilities
- Attend and staff House committees and interim committee meetings during the legislative session.
- Conduct legal research and prepare briefs, memoranda, and bill summaries for legislators.
- Develop subject‑matter expertise on issues within committee jurisdiction and track legislation throughout the process.
- Review judicial opinions, decisions, and citations relevant to proposed legislation.
- Communicate with legislators, committee chairmen, and staff to ensure accurate information flow.
Required profile
- Juris Doctor degree.
- Active membership in good standing with the Georgia State Bar.
- At least one year of legislative or state agency experience (preferred).
