Astronomy Experiences Program Coordinator

About the role

The Astronomy Experiences Program Coordinator leads the delivery of year‑round astronomy programming for Teton Science Schools, connecting participants with the night skies of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The role blends program facilitation, logistics, staff coordination, and operational support to ensure high‑quality educational experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate public and private stargazing events, solar astronomy sessions, planetarium programs, and special astronomy‑related events.
• Provide classroom‑based STEM tutoring and astronomy education in partnership with local schools.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day logistics, equipment preparation, transportation, and program readiness.
• Recruit, onboard, train, schedule, and supervise seasonal staff, interns, volunteers, and other support personnel.
• Maintain astronomy equipment, vehicles, and program materials; manage inventory and recommend operational improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in astronomy, physics, STEM education, science education, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in astronomy education, STEM or informal education, and program coordination.
• Strong communication, public‑speaking, and interpersonal skills for diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and collaboratively, and handle confidential information professionally.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with telescopes, astronomy equipment, and planetarium technology.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, scheduling systems, and other online platforms.
• Organizational and logistical planning abilities.
