Associate/Full Professor & Division Chair – Nursing

About the role

The Texas A&M University‑Texarkana College of Nursing, Health, and Human Services seeks an Associate or Full Professor to serve as Division Chair of Nursing. This senior academic leader will guide the division’s strategic direction, support the East Texas Rural Healthcare initiative, and ensure high‑quality teaching, research, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall academic and administrative leadership for the Nursing Division, reporting to the Dean.
• Develop and manage the division’s budget, curriculum, and program offerings.
• Hire, supervise, evaluate, and mentor tenure‑track, non‑tenure‑track, and adjunct faculty.
• Maintain a teaching load of at least three credit hours each fall and spring semester, with optional summer teaching.
• Lead accreditation and compliance activities in accordance with the Texas Board of Nursing.
• Foster research and scholarship, securing external funding where possible.
• Address student needs and represent the division within the college and university.

Required profile

• Eligibility to work in the United States at the time of hire.
• Terminal academic degree in nursing (Ph.D., DNP, or equivalent) and a record of scholarly achievement.
• Demonstrated experience in academic administration or leadership.
• Commitment to teaching excellence and student success.
