Associate/Full Professor & Director of SMART Center

About the role

This faculty appointment combines a senior professorship in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering with the directorship of the Smart Microgrid Advanced Research and Technology (SMART) Center. The SMART Center, funded with multi‑million‑dollar support from the Texas A&M University system, focuses on cutting‑edge research in smart microgrids and related technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, revise existing curricula and develop new courses.
• Lead the SMART Center, establishing a self‑sustaining research hub within three years.
• Secure and manage federal research grants, fostering interdisciplinary and multi‑institutional projects.
• Promote the College of Engineering and the university through outreach and academic leadership.
• Recruit and mentor graduate students for research projects.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• At least seven years of demonstrated research experience in power systems or power electronics, in academia or industry.
• Proven record of attracting and managing federally funded research projects.
• Extensive publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings.
