Associate Scientist, SOM (A)

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurology seeks a full‑time Associate Scientist (SOM) to advance its research agenda. The role involves designing and executing laboratory experiments, developing analytical methods, and contributing to both basic and applied neuroscience studies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct experiments, develop methods, and perform synthesis in assigned research areas.
• Generate and analyze data, ensuring ready access for faculty and collaborators.
• Write and submit extramural grant proposals and manage post‑award activities.
• Supervise research staff and non‑exempt personnel.
• Maintain equipment inventories and acquire necessary supplies.
• Track grant expenditures, manage sub‑awards, and liaise with financial and compliance offices.
• Act as a liaison for the Florida Regional Coordinating Center for Stroke Net Trials.

Required profile

• Experience conducting laboratory research in neuroscience or related fields.
• Proven ability to write scientific publications and technical reports.
• Experience supervising research personnel and managing grant budgets.
• Familiarity with university financial and e‑submission systems.
